I also want to transfer my old VHS movies (home movies & movies recorded off of the tv) to DVDs I thought if I bought an external DVD burner I could both burn a DVD from the home movie that I downloaded from my camera into my computer & burn DVDs of my old VHS tapes. I bought Ulead software and thought I was in business but discovered that I don't have a DVD burner.I just have a CD burner (& I can only watch DVDs). I planned to download my home movie onto my laptop (an emachine Model M5310 using Windows XP purchased last fall)and then burn the movie to a DVD.
